In a move aimed at bolstering the technical team of the senior national team, the Ghana Football Association has named Desmond Ofei as the new assistant coach of the Black Stars.
Ofei, who is currently the head coach of the national U-20 team, the Black Satellites, has been rewarded for his impressive achievements with the youth team. He led the Black Satellites to victory in the African Games and the WAFU Zone B U-20 tournament, showcasing his tactical acumen and ability to inspire young players.
The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) recently recognized Ofei’s hard work and achievements by naming him Coach of the Year 2024.
As assistant coach of the Black Stars, Ofei is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge, winning mentality, and vibrant coaching style to the team. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the team’s technical bench ahead of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, which kick off in March.
