An Accra High Court has temporarily stopped former Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo, from proceeding with the funeral and burial arrangements for the late Apostle Professor Kwadwo Safo Kantanka.

The court issued a 10-day interim injunction after an application was filed by the Kristo Asafo Mission as part of an ongoing legal dispute surrounding the estate of the renowned industrialist and religious leader.

Speaking after the ruling, counsel for the Kristo Asafo Mission, Nana Kofi Safo Kantanka, explained that the order bars Mrs Adwoa Safo from organising or carrying out the planned funeral activities until the court hears the substantive issues in the case.

The injunction has effectively suspended the funeral, which had been scheduled to take place on July 30 and 31, 2026.

The legal dispute stems from disagreements within the Safo family over who has the legal authority to oversee the funeral and carry out the final wishes of the founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group.

The disagreement entered the public domain after family members expressed differing positions over the arrangements for the burial of Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, resulting in legal proceedings.

Under the court’s directive, the interim injunction will remain in force for 10 days, after which the parties are expected to return to court for further hearing and determination of the matter.

The outcome of the proceedings is expected to determine how the funeral arrangements for the late Kristo Asafo founder will proceed.
