The President of the Chamber of Local Governance, Dr. Richard Fiadomor, has called for the enactment of a law to ban post-election appointments, arguing that such last-minute decisions undermine good governance and weaken the public sector.
Speaking on ABC’s morning show, Dr. Fiadomor expressed disappointment in the trend of governments making appointments in bad faith after elections.
He criticized both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for engaging in this practice, emphasizing that it is detrimental to the efficiency and integrity of the public sector.
“They are weakening especially the public sector. Public sector appointments do not happen in a day, but if you see some of these appointments, they did not go through the proper processes,” he stated.
He further lamented that individuals who had been in the recruitment process since June were now affected, stressing the need for legal reforms to prevent such occurrences in future administrations.
