Rev Dr. Worlanyo Mensah, the newly appointed Running Mate for Dr. Hassan Ayariga, the Founder and Flagbearer of the All Peoples Congress (APC), has vowed to strengthen anti-corruption agencies if elected in the upcoming December 7th general election.
Speaking at his official unveiling, Dr. Mensah emphasized the importance of utilizing government borrowing for proper investments rather than excessive consumption.
Dr. Mensah critiqued the current economic climate, noting that the Bank of Ghana’s reserve accounts are depleted and pensioners are suffering due to economic challenges.
He highlighted concerns raised by the Auditor General regarding the alarming amounts of money lost to corruption. “The amount of money that Ghana loses to corruption is alarming,” he said.
“If the government had been more sincere and honest, and taken steps to recoup these funds, they could have been used to transform Ghana instead of going to the IMF.”
He committed to empowering anti-corruption agencies by setting up a task force to coordinate their activities.
“We must strengthen anti-corruption agencies to investigate and prosecute all corrupt officials to serve as a deterrent to all,” Dr. Mensah asserted.
He stressed that tackling corruption will be a top priority under his and Dr. Ayariga’s leadership.
Dr. Mensah, who also serves as the Head Pastor of Christ White House Chapel and has been a technical advisor to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, promises that under the APC leadership, there will be a significant push to eradicate corruption and restore integrity in public finance.
