Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has delivered a sharp rebuke to his political opponents, claiming that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is no longer confident of winning the upcoming elections.
Speaking at the NPP Headquarters after submitting his presidential nomination forms, Dr. Bawumia remarked that the NDC has shifted from confidence to anger as they face the prospect of defeat.
“Our opponents, a year ago, seemed very confident, but today, rather than being confident, they seem very angry, as they see themselves losing this election,” he declared with a smile.
Dr. Bawumia’s comments appeared to be a direct challenge to former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, who have been vocal about their chances of winning the 2024 elections.
The NDC, led by Mr. Mahama, is seeking to reclaim the presidency after losing two consecutive elections in 2016 and 2020 to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Despite the NDC’s public assertions of victory, Dr. Bawumia suggested that their internal confidence is waning as the election approaches.
The NPP flagbearer emphasized that his party is focused on its own campaign, which highlights its achievements over the past eight years and outlines a vision for the future.
Dr. Bawumia’s remarks signal that the NPP is not taking the NDC’s claims lightly, but is instead determined to secure another victory in the upcoming elections.
