The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, announced that the commission has largely addressed the discrepancies in the voter register during an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting held at the Alisa Hotel on Tuesday, October 1.
Mensa emphasized that while the register is not final and contains some imperfections, such errors are common in any registration process.
Mensa assured representatives from various political parties that the Electoral Commission has taken proactive measures to correct the discrepancies identified since the initial release of the voter register.
“You will realize that the voters register for today is different from what was provided to the parties in August,” she stated, highlighting the commission’s commitment to transparency and accuracy.
Reiterating the progress made, Mensa pointed out that the discrepancies detected have been largely rectified.
She urged all stakeholders to place their trust in the commission’s efforts, noting, “We have a track record of delivering free and fair elections. Our staff are well trained, and we have what it takes to produce a credible register.”
With the December elections on the horizon, Mensa called on political parties to work collaboratively with the commission for a successful electoral process.
