Officials of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) attempted to arrest Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The reported incident is believed to be connected to an ongoing investigation involving the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
Sources close to the MP said EOCO officials sought to take him into custody on claims that he had failed to honour invitations to assist with the investigation.
The sources, however, maintained that Nana Baffour Awuah had not received any invitation from EOCO.
They further alleged that the attempted arrest was linked to the MP’s public defence of Salomey Baffoe, who is alleged to be an accomplice of the operator of the Ghana Jollof TikTok account.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including whether formal invitations were issued and the basis for the attempted arrest, remain unclear.
Videos seen by ABC News GH show a woman identifying herself as an EOCO officer asking Nana Baffour Awuah to accompany her to the Office.
The MP declined the request and was later seen leaving the court premises in his Toyota V8 vehicle, while the EOCO officials followed behind.
The development comes as investigations into the Ghana Jollof TikTok account continue, with Salomey Baffoe currently before the Accra High Court over her alleged involvement in the case.
