Ghanaian forward Inaki Williams was on target for Athletic Club on Thursday night, but his side suffered a 2-1 defeat against AS Roma in the first leg of their Europa League Round of 16 tie.
The match at Stadio Olimpico saw both teams battle intensely, with the first half ending without a breakthrough despite some promising chances.
Just five minutes into the second half, Williams opened the scoring with a powerful header from an Aitor Paredes corner, giving Athletic Club the lead and silencing the home crowd.
However, Roma responded quickly, equalizing through Angelino in the 56th minute, before Eldor Shomurodov delivered a late winner in stoppage time to complete the comeback for the Italian side.
With the second leg still to come, Williams and Athletic Club will now return to Spain, hoping to overturn the deficit and keep their Europa League campaign alive.
