The Chairperson of the Electoral  Commission, Jean Mensa has indicated that filing fees for presidential candidates have been pegged at GHS100,000.

Also, filling fees for parliamentary candidates is pegged at GHS10,000.

This statement comes at the back of the Chairperson being called to parliament on Friday 19th July, 2024 to breakdown the Commissions preparedness towards the upcoming general election.

While in parliament,  the Chairperson assured Ghanaians of an utmost transparent December election.

She emphasized that transparency is the cornerstone of the EC’s operations. “From the registration to the declaration, our processes are embedded with one key ingredient, and that is transparency, transparency, transparency.

As such, we will continue to operate in the spirit of transparency, fairness, and integrity as embedded in our motto,” she affirmed. She reiterated that all necessary measures are being put in place to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.

Mrs. Mensa’s parliamentary address comes at a time of heightened scrutiny and public interest in the electoral process, with various stakeholders calling for accountability and transparency.

While assuring the public of the EC’s exhaustive preparations, Mrs. Mensa noted that security concerns fall under the purview of other institutions.

She highlighted the introduction of rigorous data collection methods to enhance the commission’s activities.
