MP for Anyaa Sowutoum, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has come to the defense of the Finance Minister, stating that the minister is “doing Ghana’s bidding” to ensure a smooth economic transition for the NDC after January 7th.
Speaking on ABC Prime, Kissi explained that the Finance Minister’s actions are aimed at ensuring the NDC inherits a stable economic phase following the upcoming change in government.
Kissi’s defense comes amid the Finance Minister’s absence from Parliament for the second consecutive day, causing delays in the presentation of the anticipated mini-budget.
The absence has sparked debate, with some members of the Minority accusing the government of neglecting its duties, while others argue that delays are due to necessary amendments to the vote of accounts.
In the midst of the controversy, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the Running Mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasized the government’s intent to pass the vote of account for January to March 2025, with remaining bills to be handled by the incoming majority after January 7, 2025.
Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned the parliamentary sitting, urging the Majority leadership to ensure accountability and presence moving forward.
