A devastating fire outbreak has destroyed the top floor of a two-storey hostel accommodating over 150 students of the Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2025, sending shockwaves through the Kwadaso Municipality. According to some students who witnessed the blaze, the fire rapidly engulfed the upper floor, consuming everything in its path before emergency services arrived.
Thanks to the swift and efficient intervention of personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, the flames were brought under control before they could spread to the ground floor of the building. Their timely response helped avert a much larger disaster.
“All our things are gone. Mattresses, laptops, books, foodstuff—everything,” lamented one affected student, visibly shaken by the aftermath.
While no casualties were recorded, the damage was extensive. Management of the college explained that the situation could have been worse, but many students had traveled home for the Easter holidays, which likely prevented injuries or loss of life.
As of now, the exact cause of the fire remains unknown. Officers from the Ghana National Fire Service have commenced investigations to determine what sparked the incident.
