Political analyst Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere has boldly positioned himself as the ideal candidate to coordinate Ghana’s anti-galamsey efforts if called upon.
Speaking to ABC News GH, he stressed his deep understanding of the crisis, and closeness to it stating, “I know the impact of the menace…”
As someone from a galamsey-prone region, he claimed to have firsthand knowledge of how illegal mining devastates local communities and the national economy.
He insisted that the fight against galamsey requires a dedicated leader with no political strings attached.
“We need a coordinator of anti-galamsey,” he declared, arguing that a focused, non-partisan approach is the only way to end the menace.
To enhance accountability, he suggested that all soldiers deployed to stop illegal mining be equipped with cameras for live monitoring.
“If he makes me the coordinator, I will ensure this fight is won,” he asserted, pitching himself as the right person to lead Ghana’s toughest environmental battle.
