President John Dramani Mahama has pledged to reform the country’s tax system to ensure fairness for both citizens and businesses.
Speaking after his inauguration on January 7, 2025, Mahama thanked Ghanaians for re-electing him, promising that their votes would play a vital role in shaping the nation’s future.
“You have my sincerest thanks for honoring me. My firm immutable assurance is that your vote will matter in the work that I do to make a difference in the destiny of the dear nation of ours,” he stated.
He acknowledged the struggles the nation has faced but urged his fellow citizens not to succumb to pessimism.
“Our nation was born with much promise. That promise may seem hazy and in doubt now because of the hardship that has happened in the past, but I urge you not to fall into a state of perpetual pessimism.”
Mahama also emphasized his government’s commitment to strengthening public health systems, ensuring minimal loss of lives in future crises, and creating an environment that fosters business growth.
Other notable international attendees included President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President William Ruto of Kenya, President Faure Gnassingbé of Togo, and President Patrice Talon of Benin, among others.
Former Ghanaian leaders, including former President John Agyekum Kufuor and former First Lady Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, were also present to witness this historic moment.
