Chairman of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee, Hon. Ernest Henry Norgbey, has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars’ chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after Ghana was drawn into a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.

Speaking exclusively to ABC News GH TV, the Ashaiman MP said Ghana must approach the tournament with seriousness and respect for all opponents.

“It’s a tricky group, and we cannot underrate any team,” he stated. “We have to take it one game at a time.”

Despite acknowledging the toughness of the group, Hon. Norgbey was emphatic about Ghana’s chances of progressing.

“I’m very much optimistic that we’ll qualify from the group to the next stage,” he said.

He reserved special comments for England, the 1966 World Cup champions and Ghana’s high-profile group opponent.

“England might be a tough nut to crack, but looking at the form of our players, I’m very sure we’ll meet England boot for boot,” he said confidently. “If England underrate us, we’ll beat them.”

Hon. Norgbey added that Ghana has the quality to finish in the top two, guaranteeing a place in the knockout stage.

“If we don’t top Group L, we’ll place second and qualify for the Round of 16,” he concluded.
