An electrical installation fire broke out at the Achimota ECG Bulk Supply Tent near Roman Ridge, just off the Obasanjo Highway in Accra, prompting an emergency call at exactly 11:11 am.
Within two minutes (11:13 am), firefighters led by ADO II Arhin Daniel from the Abelemkpe Fire Station arrived on scene.
Thanks to their rapid response and tactical firefighting skills, the blaze was brought under control at 11:22 am and fully extinguished at 11:28 am.
The fire, which affected an earthing transformer, also extended to an outdoor air conditioner unit. Fortunately, no injuries were recorded, but parts of Accra have been cut off from electricity.
The swift intervention by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) prevented further damage, successfully salvaging a second transformer, the tent structure and the adjoining substation equipment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The GNFS has once again demonstrated its commitment to protecting life and property through timely action and professionalism.
