Accra – Dr. Ishmael Hlovor has also emphasized the need for Ghanaian diplomatic missions to meet clearly defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure they deliver tangible benefits and do not become a financial burden on the central government.
“According to him, if the mission abide by the KPI’s identified, they will be bringing more benefit to the country to the extent that spending on their rent or purchasing properties will be insignificant,” Dr. Hlovor explained.
He urged that enforcing these KPIs should go hand-in-hand with the government’s STRIDE initiative, which seeks to replace rented embassies and consulates with state-owned facilities.
The expert stressed that combining cost-effective property ownership with performance accountability would ensure Ghana’s missions contribute meaningfully to national development while protecting public resources.
The recommendation aligns with President Mahama’s broader Reset Agenda, signaling a shift toward more strategic, accountable, and financially sustainable foreign representation.
