Ghanaian DStv customers will begin enjoying automatic package upgrades at no extra cost starting October 1, following a new agreement between the government and MultiChoice Africa.
Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, announced at a press conference in Accra on Monday, September 29, that the move is part of what he described as “an unprecedented increased value offer exclusively for Ghana.”
According to him, the initiative gives subscribers between 33% and 50% more value depending on their package.
Under the revised structure, current subscribers will automatically be moved to higher tiers while paying their existing fees.
For instance, Pady bouquet users paying GH¢59 will now receive the Access package worth GH¢99 with 35 additional channels, while Access subscribers at GH¢99 will be bumped to the GH¢190 Family package with 19 extra channels.
Family customers will be upgraded to Compact, Compact to Compact Plus, and Compact Plus to Premium, all with significant cost savings ranging from 33% to 50%. Premium customers, who already pay GH¢865, will retain their package but gain access to a promotion offering fully paid trips to watch English Premier League matches.
“This arrangement ensures that Ghanaians enjoy more services without paying additional fees. It is MultiChoice’s direct response to subscriber concerns in Ghana, and the offer is unmatched elsewhere on the continent,” Mr George stated.
He added that the upgrades will apply to both new and existing subscribers nationwide without restrictions.
