Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has announced that a major demolition exercise will commence next week as part of efforts to address flooding challenges in the region.
In an interview with ABC News GH on Monday, she revealed that she will be meeting with all District and Municipal Chief Executives ahead of the operation.
“Next week we are going to do a mass demolition to put things in order,” she said, emphasizing the urgency of clearing unauthorized structures, particularly those built on waterways.
The Minister urged residents to stop building on waterways, calling it one of the key causes of persistent flooding in the region.
“If we don’t meet each other we are not getting anywhere,” she stated, appealing for public cooperation in the clean-up efforts.
She also hinted at the usual political interference that often stalls such exercises, suggesting that this time her office is determined to push through the planned actions despite potential resistance.
