The Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge Hospital) has announced plans to conduct a mass burial for 70 unclaimed bodies that have remained in its mortuary for over nine months.

In a notice published in the Daily Graphic on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, the hospital stated that family members of the deceased must claim the bodies within three weeks or risk their relatives being buried in the mass burial exercise.

According to a statement signed by the Medical Director, Dr. Ralph Armah, the decision to conduct the mass burial is aimed at decongesting the mortuary and maintaining public health standards.

“Family members of the deceased persons are hereby informed to contact the hospital mortuary officials to claim the bodies of their relatives for burial as soon as possible,” the statement urged.
