Hannah Serwaa Tetteh, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, has been appointed as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative to Libya and Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The announcement, made on January 25, 2025, by the UN’s Ghana Facebook page, celebrates Tetteh’s groundbreaking role in leading peacebuilding efforts in a region marred by conflict.

As the 10th person to hold this position since 2011, Tetteh brings a wealth of expertise, including her previous roles as Ghana’s foreign minister and a key figure in ECOWAS leadership.
