The Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has convened a high-level strategic meeting with executives of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), medical directors, and hospital superintendents to address critical issues confronting Ghana’s healthcare sector.
Central to the discussions were growing concerns about the rise in medical-legal cases, which participants warned could not only damage the reputation of health facilities but also exert significant pressure on the country’s public finances.

Hon. Akandoh emphasized the government’s commitment to working collaboratively with health professionals to find sustainable solutions, stressing that the credibility and financial stability of the healthcare system must be protected.

Stakeholders at the meeting pledged to strengthen internal protocols, improve professional accountability, and enhance patient care standards to mitigate future legal risks.
The Ministry is expected to roll out a series of reforms aimed at fortifying health sector governance in the coming months.
