Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has expressed confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate, asserting that he has the economic expertise needed to guide Ghana towards recovery and significant growth if elected in the December polls.
Speaking to journalists on Sunday, November 17, Mr. Kufuor highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s past contributions to economic management, especially his work with the Bank of Ghana.
He commended Dr. Bawumia for his pivotal role in enhancing the stability of the local currency during his tenure as part of the central bank’s team.
The former President called on Ghanaians to offer their support by voting decisively for Dr. Bawumia, stressing his potential to accelerate the country’s economic development.
Kufuor stressed that under the current global economic conditions, Ghana stands to benefit significantly from Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and innovative approach to economic policy.
“I have seen firsthand his impressive capabilities in economic enhancement. During my presidency, he was an integral part of the Bank of Ghana’s team under Governor Dr. Paul Acquah, contributing greatly to the revival of the currency,” Kufuor stated.
He added that with divine guidance, Dr. Bawumia has the capacity to deliver on his promise of economic transformation.
