President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his commitment to bringing about meaningful change in Ghana after being inaugurated as the 6th President of the Fourth Republic.
In his inaugural speech on January 7, 2025, Mahama thanked Ghanaians for re-electing him, saying, “You have my sincerest thanks for honoring me. My firm immutable assurance is that your vote will matter in the work that I do to make a difference in the destiny of the dear nation of ours.”
He acknowledged the hardships the country has faced but urged citizens not to fall into pessimism, emphasizing the need for leadership with a clear, unwavering desire to create change.
“I intend to be that leader with your cooperation and help,” he said.
Mahama also outlined his government’s plans to strengthen public health systems to better handle future pandemics, ensuring that loss of lives will be minimized.
Speaking as the Special Guest of Honor, was Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, President of the Republic of Nigeria, urged that “the black star reminds us (Africans) to strive together, even when we disagree, we must choose the path of peaceful dialogue. Never can we do harm to our brothers nor can we permit any outsider to disrupt our bond of brotherhood.
“Osagye Dr. Kwame Nkrumah is here today, lifting the black star higher and higher.
Attending the inauguration were fellow presidents from neighboring states, former Presidents of Ghana, Diplomatic executives, party executives, supporters amongst others.
