Member of Parliament for Gushegu, Hassan Tampuli, has expressed regret over his role in the widely criticized chaos that erupted during an Appointments Committee vetting session in Parliament some months ago.
In an interview with ABC News’ Samuel Nyigmabo, Tampuli acknowledged that his behavior on the day was out of character and emphasized that such conduct will not be repeated.
“I regret my part in the chaos during Appointments Committee vetting,” he stated, adding, “What happened that day was completely out of character.”
The Gushegu MP further explained that while he did not initiate any attack, he responded after being provoked.
“There was push for that character. I never moved to attack anybody; I was attacked, and so—reflex action,” he said.
While not proud of the incident, Tampuli admitted that it was an unfortunate moment in parliamentary proceedings: “One way or the other, it has happened, and we are not proud about that.”
