Agriculture Research Scientist Prof. Roger Kanton has called on the government to prioritise irrigation and not solely depend on rain for agriculture production.
He, however, called for a modest irrigation project that would not be gigantic and huge and cost-effective.
He added that the dams should not be too huge to have serious economic challenges.
Prof. Roger Kanton has urged the government to get in touch with experts in the agricultural sector.
Speaking on ABC in the morning, Prof Kanton stated that agriculture is not like education, fighting Galamsey or fighting corruption, stressing that it is a totally different sector and if the government fixes agriculture right, Ghana will be free.
“there is no country that has better agriculture opportunities like Ghana,” he said.
He added that the greatest security threat is not terrorism but hunger and deprivation, calling on the government to take expert opinions from experts in the agricultural field to make agriculture work in the country.
