Former Ghana U20 star Ivan Anokye Mensah has been named in the Nike Slovak Liga Team of the Week for the playoff stage.
The Ghanaian defender put in a commanding performance at the back to help his side, Banská Bystrica, secure a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Ružomberok. Anokye played the full 90 minutes and, despite receiving a yellow card, earned the highest rating among defenders for his impressive display.
Since making the switch from MŠK Žilina to Banská Bystrica in the same league, Anokye has become a key figure in his team’s backline, featuring in the majority of their matches this season.
Anokye is also among the few Ghanaian internationals to have won silverware in recent years, having claimed victory in both the WAFU B and AFCON U20 tournaments with Ghana in 2021.
