A female student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has been found dead near the school’s Centre for Disability, in what is suspected to be a robbery attack.
The lifeless body was discovered in the early hours of Thursday, sending shockwaves across the university community.
Eyewitnesses believe she may have been attacked while returning from night studies, as the university is currently in the middle of its mid-semester examinations.
Her bag and other belongings were found ransacked beside her, reinforcing suspicions of a robbery.
Authorities have since been notified, and investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding her death.
The incident has sparked fresh concerns over security on campus, with students being urged to remain vigilant, especially at night.
Many students have taken to social media to demand improved security measures, calling on university authorities to increase patrols and install more surveillance cameras in isolated areas.
Meanwhile, KNUST’s management has assured students that security measures will be reviewed to prevent further occurrences.
