A man has been shot and killed by unidentified gunmen in the Asawase area of Kumasi, just days after the assassination of Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region.
The latest victim, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was reportedly attacked by two assailants on a motorbike who opened fire while he was near his vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Security in the area has since been heightened, with police and military personnel deployed to prevent further violence.
The immediate area surrounding the shooting has been cordoned off as crime scene investigators work to gather evidence.
Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the attack.
The killing has fueled growing fears among residents, following the recent fatal shooting of the Kusasi Chief on 22 July near his Asawase residence.
He later died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
While police have not confirmed any link between the two incidents, the Ashanti Regional Police Command says investigations are ongoing.
