The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has said that recent peace talks in the protracted Bawku conflict have resulted in a period of relative calm.
Leading mediation efforts between the Kusasi and Mamprusi factions, the Asantehene held meetings with representatives from both sides between April 28 and April 30, before temporarily pausing the dialogue.
Speaking at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, May 12, 2025, during a meeting with Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Otumfuo confirmed that the mediation would resume soon.
“We are still on the matter, and we will meet again to address the issues. We are not done yet. But the little we have done has brought some calm in the area. We will brief you and the Ghanaians soon,” he stated.
