The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has assured that it will uphold peace and order during the upcoming parliamentary by-election in the Akwatia Constituency.
The party’s Deputy Director of Elections, Mahdi Jibril, gave the assurance during an interview with ABC News GH on Tuesday, following a high-level meeting convened by the Ghana Police Service with political stakeholders.
“Yes, I can confirm that our rep is at the meeting as at now,” Jibril stated, confirming the NDC’s active participation in the discussions.
He praised the Police for their proactive approach ahead of the by-election, noting that their measures were a step in the right direction. “The approach of the Police even before this meeting is commendable.
They have already met the DCEs and the Regional Security Council, where I am aware that Police is going to provide 10 Police Officers at each polling station. They are giving us 5,000 Police Officers in Akwatia,” he said.
The NDC official further assured that his party would conduct itself responsibly during the exercise.
“We will maintain the peace in Akwatia. We will conduct ourselves peacefully in Akwatia,” he affirmed.
