Dr. Rashid Tanko, the Deputy Director of IT and Elections for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has vowed that a future NDC government will hold accountable all individuals implicated in the controversial National Cathedral project.
Speaking on ABC News GH, Dr. Tanko expressed his party’s firm commitment to prosecuting those involved in the alleged corruption and abuse of power tied to the project.
His remarks follow findings from the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), which recommended a forensic audit of the project and the prosecution of its trustees.
“We are going to revisit it, and we will investigate thoroughly. In just 10 days, the NDC will be in government,” Tanko declared.
Tanko accused those involved in the project of exploiting religious sentiments for personal gain, stating, “People are stealing in the name of God.”
He further criticized the current state of the project, questioning the validity of the reported $58 million spent.
Tanko also claimed that religious leaders were complicit in the scheme, “fronting for politicians to steal state money,” and issued a stark warning, saying, “By the time we finish with them, we will have to expand Nsawam Prison.”
