Preparations for Nigeria’s crucial 2026 World Cup playoff have been thrown into disarray after players and officials reportedly boycotted training today in Morocco.
According to sources close to the team, the entire squad refused to take part in the scheduled session due to ongoing disagreements over unpaid bonuses and outstanding allowances. The situation has created tension within camp just days before their decisive clash on Thursday.
Team representatives are said to be in talks with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to resolve the matter swiftly, as both parties aim to avoid further disruption to the team’s focus and readiness.
The Super Eagles are currently training in Morocco ahead of their playoff match first of all against Gabon, which could secure their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup if successful.
Officials remain hopeful that the payment issues will be addressed promptly, allowing the players to resume training and fully concentrate on the upcoming fixture.
