The embattled Paramount Chief of the Atti-Morkwa Traditional Area, Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV, is facing another legal battle as nine mining companies have taken him to court over allegations of illegal mining.

Already embroiled in a lawsuit from Kadesh Mining Enterprise, the Chief’s troubles have deepened with the new accusations of trespassing on mining concessions.

The companies are seeking court intervention to halt the Chief’s alleged mining activities, demanding an order to restrain him and his workers from further encroaching on their concessions. They are also calling for the restoration and reclamation of lands that have already been mined.

This legal battle adds to the growing scrutiny around Oseadeeyo Kwesi Kennin IV’s role in the illegal mining operations in the Central Region.

On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, His Lordship Samuel Faraday Johnson, who presided over the case, adjourned proceedings to October 28, 2024.

The delay comes as the court awaits a ruling from the Kumasi High Court to determine jurisdiction in a related case involving the Chief and Kadesh Mining Enterprise.
