Top executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday thronged the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), calling for the immediate release of former Buffer Stock CEO, Alhaji Abdul-Wahab Hannan.
This follows growing agitation among party supporters over his continued detention despite being granted a GHS60 million bail.
Alhaji Wahab was arrested alongside his wife, Faiza, during a coordinated EOCO operation on June 25 in Accra and Tamale.
The couple was accused of tax evasion, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
While Faiza has since been released on a GHS30 million bail, Wahab remains in custody, fueling protests within party circles.
The NPP leadership described the situation as unacceptable and urged EOCO to uphold the bail conditions already set by the court.
According to sources close to the party, they view the continued detention as “politically motivated” and have threatened to escalate the matter unless Wahab is released promptly.
