Forty-seven aspirants have successfully filed their nominations to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections, after the filing window closed on Saturday, August 29.
The National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) confirmed that the process ended at 6:00 p.m., with three of the 50 individuals who had purchased nomination forms failing to complete the process.
Those who are no longer in the race are Bernard Antwi Boasiako, who had picked a form to contest the National Chairperson position; Evans Kodom, an aspirant for National Communications Director; and Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who was seeking the National Women Organiser position.
According to the NOEC, Mr Boasiako formally withdrew from the contest, while Mr Kodom exited the race during the filing of the nomination of Dennis Miracles Aboagye.
Ms Akwada, on the other hand, did not submit her completed nomination forms before the 6:00 p.m. deadline.
The development leaves Dennis Miracles Aboagye as the sole aspirant for the position of National Communications Director.
He will therefore proceed to the vetting stage as a potentially unopposed candidate, subject to successfully completing the vetting process and satisfying all applicable requirements.
The vetting of the 47 aspirants is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 31, and end on Thursday, September 3.
The exercise will be conducted by the Vetting Committee chaired by former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Candidates vying for National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer will appear before the committee on Monday.
National Vice Chairperson aspirants will follow on Tuesday, while candidates for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser will undergo vetting on Wednesday.
The final day, Thursday, will be dedicated to aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC has reaffirmed its commitment to conducting an “orderly, fair, transparent and credible” election process.
It has also called on all aspirants and their supporters to uphold party unity and help build confidence in the electoral process as the internal elections progress.
