The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has unveiled a comprehensive timeline to guide its upcoming internal elections, setting in motion a series of activities from grassroots structures to the constituency level.

The roadmap comes weeks after the party’s presidential primaries on January 31, 2026, which saw Mahamudu Bawumia elected as flagbearer.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, detailed the timelines for membership registration, data processing and the various stages of the elections.

According to him, the re-registration of members will run from March 1 to March 31, 2026. “The process of registration of members will start from March 1 to 31, 2026. The data entry of members who have been registered will be between April 1 and April 10, 2026. After the data entry, there will be verification of its members from April 14 to 16, 2026,” he stated.

He further disclosed that the internal electoral process will begin at the polling station level. Nominations for polling station executive positions are expected to open on April 20 and close on April 24. Vetting of aspirants will follow from April 25 to April 30, while appeals will be considered between May 1 and May 4.

“The notice of poll will be from May 6 to May 9, 2026. The elections of the polling station executives will be from May 10 to 16, 2026,” Mr. Frimpong added.

Ahead of those elections, data entry and validation for the polling station executives’ album will take place from April 17 to April 21.

The party will subsequently move to elect its electoral area executives. Nominations are scheduled for May 23 to May 25, with vetting slated for May 26 to May 31. Appeals will be heard from June 1 to June 4, while notices of poll will be issued between June 5 and June 8. Elections at that level are fixed for June 10 to June 15, with results to be entered and validated from June 16 to June 20.

“In all these activities, the responsible office will be the constituency executive committee and the regional steering committee, with oversight responsibility by the national secretariat,” he explained.

At the constituency level, nominations for executive positions will open from June 22 to June 24. Vetting is expected to run from June 25 to June 27, with appeals slated for June 28 to June 30. Notices of poll will be issued between July 2 and July 5, while constituency executive elections are scheduled for July 11 and July 12. Data entry of the constituency album will continue from July 13 to July 26, 2026.

Party officials expressed optimism that the structured timeline and clearly defined procedures will promote transparency, fairness and inclusive participation throughout the internal democratic exercise.
