The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has outlined his key focus areas following his new role as the Minister of Works and Housing.

Speaking in an interview with reporters on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, the outgoing Information Minister indicated his commitment to addressing critical issues related to rural housing, drainage systems, and the Saglemi project. These priorities, he noted, are in direct accordance with the objectives outlined by the President.

“The President’s priorities for this new era include, in particular, giving more attention to rural housing associated with the Agenda 111 project.”

“He also wants some attention on the drainage system that has the potential to occasion flooding in some of the major parts of the country. He also wants to look at the Saglemi project and see how quickly we can bring a resolution to it,” he remarked.

Background

President Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday February 14, made a major ministerial reshuffle since assuming office in January 2017.

This development led to the permanent exit of some minsiters from office, and others reassigned to different ministerial positions.

The recent reshuffle has impacted around 13 ministers of state, comprising 10 cabinet ministers and two regional ministers.

Key figures permanently exiting from office include Ken Ofori-Atta (Minister of Finance), Kwaku Agyemang Manu (Minister of Health), Freda Prempeh (Minister of Sanitation) and Kwasi Amoako-Atta (Minister of Roads & Highways).

Also, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah moves to the Housing Ministry, while his deputy Fatimatu Abubakar takes over as the substantive Minister. The MP for Bantama and Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye has equally been reshuffled to the Roads Ministry, following the permanent exit of the Roads Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Atta.
