The Chief Executive Officer of the National Road and Safety Authority, Abraham Amaliba Esq., has stressed the need for government to strictly follow due process in prosecuting cases under the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative.
Speaking on ABC in the Morning, Mr. Amaliba revealed that he has often been confronted by members of the public who demand immediate jailing of offenders, insisting that such was the reason they voted for the current government.
He noted, however, that prosecutions cannot be rushed or conducted merely to satisfy public pressure.
According to him, the law requires that thorough investigations and strong evidence be gathered before offenders are arraigned, so as to ensure that cases stand the test of judicial scrutiny.
Amaliba emphasized that only credible cases would guarantee lasting justice and avoid dismissals that may embolden wrongdoers.
