The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, is expected to appear before Parliament this week to address mounting concerns over the unresolved parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The seat has remained vacant since the December 7, 2024, general elections, following disputes surrounding the collation of results from several polling centres — leaving constituents without representation for over six months.
On June 4, the Minority caucus petitioned the Ghana Police Service to provide adequate security to ensure that the EC can safely and transparently complete the re-collation process.
Jean Mensa is scheduled to brief the Committee of the Whole in Parliament on the progress made and the next steps in resolving the impasse.
Lawmakers are expected to demand clarity on the EC’s timeline for finalising the process and declaring the long-awaited outcome.
