Two young men, Mohammed Basit, 18, and Baba Rasid, 22, have been arrested by the police in Walewale for allegedly stealing a loaded pistol and rifle magazines from an immigration officer’s residence.
The incident occurred around midday on Saturday, May 17, 2025, when the officer was reportedly away.
The stolen items included a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and two CZ rifle magazines, each containing 30 rounds.
A statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Robert Anabik Anmain of the North East Regional Police Public Relations Unit confirmed the arrest, indicating it was the result of intelligence-led operations conducted in Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale.
