The Ghana Police Service has interdicted General Lance Corporal Shani Abdullai following his alleged possession of restricted pharmaceutical substances.
According to reports, the officer was found in possession of synthetic opioids—specifically tramadol—during a routine operation conducted at Kpalsi, a suburb of Tamale in the Northern Region.
Tramadol is classified as a controlled drug due to its high potential for abuse and its frequent association with illicit drug distribution networks.
In a statement issued by the Police Administration, the Service confirmed the interdiction of the officer to facilitate a comprehensive internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
This action, the statement noted, reflects the Ghana Police Service’s ongoing commitment to maintaining integrity, professionalism, and accountability within its ranks.
The Police Administration further assured the public that, should the officer be found culpable, appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken in line with established procedures.
