President John Dramani Mahama has appointed the Minister for Interior, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, as the Acting National Security Minister in addition to his existing portfolio.
The decision, made in accordance with Section 24 of the Securities and Intelligence Act 2020 (Act 1030), was formally communicated to Parliament by Speaker Alban Bagbin during proceedings on Friday, March 7, 2025.
This appointment positions Muntaka to oversee national security operations while continuing his duties at the Interior Ministry.
In a letter to Parliament, President Mahama stated, “I convey to the House that I have assigned ministerial responsibility for national security to the Minister of the Interior, Hon. Mohammed-Muntaka Mubarak.”
Muntaka’s dual role is expected to enhance efficiency in tackling emerging threats and maintaining internal stability.
