President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 33 individuals for the position of District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Eastern Region, a move aimed at deepening decentralization and enhancing local development.
The nominations were announced on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).

The list, released by the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, features individuals from a range of professional, academic, and community-based backgrounds.
The nominations come at a crucial time, as the administration seeks to implement key social and economic programmes including the Edwumawura initiative and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund which heavily rely on effective district-level coordination.
