President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has made a full recovery and is expected back in the country by the end of next week.
Speaking during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Dodowa on Friday, May 16, Mahama conveyed his relief and gratitude over the Vice President’s health progress, saying, “By God’s grace, she has fully recovered, and she is going to come and go back to her duties.”
The Vice President was taken ill on March 28 and admitted to the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) before being flown abroad for further medical care on the advice of doctors.
She officially commenced a three-week medical leave on April 7, 2025. Mahama told supporters in the Greater Accra Region that he had spoken to her personally just a day before and assured the public of her imminent return, stating: “I begin by bringing you greetings from Her Excellency… she will be back in the country before the end of next week.”
