Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, has announced that Robotics and Coding will now be mandatory for all second-year Senior High School (SHS) students in Ghana.

This new curriculum, has several addition and twist to the courses, to which their implementation begins today.

This transformative decision, he stated, aligns with his commitment to equip young Ghanaians with essential skills for an increasingly digital world.

Speaking at an event with youth at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra on November 3, Dr. Bawumia highlighted that this mandate marks a crucial step in empowering Ghana’s next generation.

Dr. Bawumia further addressed the Akufo-Addo administration’s significant strides in job creation, citing data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) that showcases approximately 2.6 million jobs created since 2017.

“1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector,” he noted, emphasizing that these figures represent the highest job creation by any government in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

Despite current economic hurdles, he assured Ghanaians of his commitment to expanding these opportunities if elected, reflecting his vision for a resilient economy driven by skilled, employable youth.

Bawumia acknowledged the challenges that persist, particularly regarding unemployment among young Ghanaians, but reassured his audience of his dedication to job creation.

“We have done a remarkable job in creating jobs in the last seven years,” he said, reinforcing the government’s achievements and commitment to tackling youth unemployment.
