John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cannot distance himself from the prevailing economic challenges facing Ghana.
Delivering his address during a town hall meeting held in Tamale on Thursday, the former President insisted that accountability must be demanded from every member of the Akufo-Addo administration regarding the country’s current economic state. He argued that the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) had mismanaged the nation’s affairs, leading to a dire economic situation that needs urgent intervention.
“Now, all those who contributed to the mess are attempting to distance themselves as if they were not involved. People have started claiming they were not in charge and that their voices weren’t heard, but they all played a part in the crisis, and none of them can evade responsibility. They all participated in cabinet meetings and collectively made decisions.”
“All of them ‘dey inside’, Jack Toronto and all his brothers, all of them are part of the mess we are going through. None of them can escape responsibility.”
Meanwhile, the Minority Leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has rebuked Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for his recent comments on the authority of the Economic Management Team (EMT).
Dr. Ato Forson vehemently dismissed Dr. Bawumia’s statements, branding them as false and unacceptable to the Ghanaian populace. He asserted that the Vice President’s comments were nothing more than attempts to make excuses for the shortcomings of the EMT, which he believes have imposed significant burdens on the Ghanaian people.
