Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has accused the government of manipulating the national security apparatus to serve partisan interests.
Speaking on ABC Morning, the Minority MP described the arrest and ongoing detention of NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, as politically motivated.
“That’s the game they’re playing… we see the politics here,” he stated, warning that the matter has transitioned from a legal process into a calculated political maneuver.
Oppong Nkrumah, who served as Information Minister under the previous administration, emphasized that the political undertones in the case are alarming and reflective of a broader agenda to use state institutions for political gain.
“EOCO officials, under the direction of the government, are prosecuting in terms of political objectives,” he said, arguing that such developments are undermining public confidence in state institutions.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and to resist any attempts to erode democratic norms through political interference.
