Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey’s legal case involving allegations of rape and sexual assault has been moved to September 15, 2025.
The 32-year-old was due to appear before London’s Old Bailey on Monday, September 2, but the proceedings have now been shifted to Southwark Crown Court on the new date.
Partey has been charged with five counts of rape involving two women, in addition to one count of sexual assault against a third woman. The alleged incidents are said to have taken place between 2021 and 2022 while he was playing for Arsenal. The case was filed just four days after his contract with the Premier League club came to an end in June.
Meanwhile, despite the court proceedings, Partey has joined the Black Stars’ camp in Accra ahead of Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He arrived on Tuesday, September 2, and is expected to feature in the upcoming fixtures against Chad and Mali.
The Black Stars will travel to N’Djamena to play Chad on Thursday, September 4, before hosting Mali in Accra on Monday, September 8.
Now signed to Spanish side Villarreal after his departure from Arsenal, the former Atlético Madrid player is expected to be pivotal in Ghana’s quest to secure a fifth World Cup appearance.
Ghana currently leads Group I with 15 points from six games, setting the stage for two crucial encounters in the qualifying campaign.
