The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three men suspected of smuggling weapons in Savelugu following an intelligence-led operation.
The suspects, identified as Gaba Abdallah Alhassan, Alhassan Abdallah, and Alhassan Abdul Kudus, were apprehended on May 1, 2025, at different locations across the area.
During the operation, police recovered a cache of firearms, including an AK-47 rifle, a submachine gun (SMG), a Smith and Wesson SD40 VE pistol, and a single-barrel gun.
Authorities also seized two magazines and a range of ammunition, including AK-47 rounds, pistol bullets, and BB cartridges, raising concerns about the scale of the smuggling activities.
The suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue. Officials say legal proceedings will follow to ensure due process.
