The Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the violent incidents recorded during the Ablekuma North parliamentary re-run on Friday, July 11, 2025.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 23, the police named the suspects as Musah Muntari, a 46-year-old Station Manager at STC, and Ali Saeed, also known as Mboma, a 43-year-old businessman. Both suspects are currently assisting with investigations.
The statement, signed by the Head of Public Affairs, Juliana Boateng, reaffirmed the Police Command’s commitment to ensuring justice is served.
“The public is encouraged to continue cooperating with the Police and to share credible information by calling our emergency numbers 18555 or 191,” it added.
The command assured the public that all individuals involved in acts of violence, intimidation, or misconduct during the elections will be held accountable.
The re-run was marred by violent scenes, including the assault of ABC News Gh Journalist, EIB journalist, the former Fisheries Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson, as well as a Deputy National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In an earlier update on July 17, the police revealed that the officer who assaulted the journalist had been charged with assault as investigations continue.
